So I have always really liked the @EbbetsVintage grounds crew jackets but knew they didn't have the clearance to do them for MLB teams so I took matters in my own hands with this DIY project. I created my own Metropolitan Stadium grounds crew jacket. @UniWatch
First I aquired a cheap vintage windbreaker on eBay
I already had a unique 60's era Twins patch that I have been hanging on to for the right project.
After some advice from @wafflebored I sourced some heat press lettering from Stahls. Lettering is great, because even though it isn't sewn on it still has a sewn on look.
Next, I really wanted to have a chainstitching done identifying the jacket as "Grounds Crew". I didn't want to just have computer programmed embroidery. This led me to a great location in NE Minneapolis called Dinosaur Hampton and the proprietor, Benjamin.
Benjamin has a vintage chainstitching machine and says he is the only person creating chainstitched designs in Minnesota.
Here is a video of him stitching the word "Grounds" on the jacket.
And here is the final chainstitched lettering.
Benjamin is a cool guy with an extensive collection of old lettermen's jackets he was saving for future projects. Here are a couple of them.
And here is the finished jacket. I'm pretty pleased with the results.
