In anticipation of a move, I've been sorting cookbooks to get rid of. @bittman's How to Cook Everything (original edition) is the biggest dilemma, as it was the last move. My copy is in tatters. But the Updated version is Not the Same.

Do I keep it?
I should add, given the comments about Joy of Cooking -- I DID get rid of that in the last move (a decade ago). I also got rid of The Spice Cookbook, which was even more tattered.
I should FURTHER add: I'm getting rid of Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home AND Baking with Julia, for all those comparing with Childs' books.
Two other dilemma cookbooks:

Sundays at Moosewood

Silver Palate, with notes and recipes from the guy who gave it to me
Because this is an interesting convo, here's the first of the "keep" shelves.
Here's the second. The ones on the left are on the bubble.
And here are the ones I'm getting rid of.
