Thread: A lot of interest in the “enhanced audio” track which Bundesliga viewers in some parts of the world have been fed as the default. In other parts of the world, it’s not used at all. In 🇩🇪, a middle way: main coverage is without it, but you can press a button to access it.
BILD has a piece about how it this enhanced audio feed option is produced at the German end. I’ve translated the whole article below.
STADIUM ATMOSPHERE AT THE PUSH OF A BUTTON
Now there’s something in your ears! In order to give rise to a bit of stadium atmosphere in the live TV coverage, Sky is banking on an extra audio option.
For all single games in the top division of the Bundesliga as well as the
Sky-Konferenz (bounce around show), matching fan noise is being mixed in according to each game situation.
It works like this. Every match is allocated a Sky sound producer, who sits in Unterföhring (Sky HQ) near Munich. In front of him is a mixer with buttons.
Using this he can then play in shouts, cheers, whistles & goal celebrations relevant to the respective sides. With the fan noise, it’s a matter of using sound samples from previous games involving the 2 clubs as well as recordings from past home games.
As the reaction to the extra audio option has been positive so far, Sky will keep going with it. This Sky sound button is one that is available to Sky customers using Sky Q or Sky + receivers.
