Liftoff of Skylab 2!

On May 25th, 1973, Skylab 2 launched on a repair mission to fix the critically damaged orbiting workshop.

Astronauts Pete Conrad, Paul Weitz, and Joseph Kerwin worked to implement the fixes developed by ground teams in the aftermath of the launch of Skylab.
Their 28-day mission was to repair the sunshade and get the station operational. It's one of the most incredible stories in American spaceflight history.

There are fantastic books and movies cover the Skylab missions, like the ones in this thread. #Skylab #NASA
These two NASA images show the Saturn IB just after liftoff and just after the rocket cleared the tower. Note the "milk stand" that was used to make the Saturn IB reach the crew access arm that was used for the massive Saturn V rocket. So sad I missed this yesterday!
