1/4 Bug hotels serve as an act of empathy & are a playful way to encourage compassion/ nurture an ethic of care towards living things. B/c the alternative is to teach kids how to effectively kill living things, which doesn’t line up very well with our core competencies #sd38learn
3/4 Bug hotels are an amazing example of the emergent curriculum in practice as well. We don’t plan on finding slugs and snails in our garden, but when we do, they can be studied and included in our broader understanding of life cycles and food chains. #sd38learn
