I have been a Christian my entire life. Haven’t been rooted in a church for over a year because of a lot of internal issues within the churches I’ve been a part of. Not every church is bad, not every Christian is bad. But there are serious issues masked by “the voice of God”.
I attended a private Christian university. I met some of the greatest friends of my life. But I also saw how the church can endocrine young people to believe everything that comes from a pastor’s mouth. And convince everyone if they are not in ministry, their jobs mean nothing.
I have a deep love for God. I believe God is real and true and loving and understanding and bold and fights against injustice and accepts all. I also believe Christians have skewed the heart of God and have turned it into their own personal agenda.
It is not bold or truthful to turn people away because of their skin color, sexual orientation, etc. It is bold to stand with refugees, comfort victims of abuse, to fight for the rights of every person, to speak for those who are not heard.
To finish this thread off, you do not need a church to be connected to God. Sure, the community aspect can be healthy & helpful. But you DO NOT need a physical building, or a certain group of people to dictate how you choose to worship and follow God.
