Hey, Voice Actors.

Maybe it's because of the pandemic, but something has really gotten out of hand recently, and as someone who regularly cast shows, I feel like I need to say something about it:

Stop posting on social media about roles you want to be cast as.

A thread.
First of all, when you do this, you are weaponizing your fanbase against everyone else. Which only makes things really awkward for the person that does get cast when it isn't you. You make the other person feel guilty for being the right person for the part and that's not cool.
Second of all (and this is a big one), it makes you look desperate. And "desperate" is never a good look for someone who is supposed to be a working actor. Because it makes you look like a "not working actor."
If you want to work on a specific property, reach out to the casting director or talent coordinator and ask if you can audition. That's being proactive. Posting randomly online about something isn't.
Don't have a relationship with that studio? Work to make the connection. If you're a real working voice actor, you've made connections with studios before. There's nothing stopping you from doing it again. And maybe it will be too late, but hey, at least you actually tried.
This applies for people you think should be cast in a role that isn't yourself also. If you think an actor friend should have a shot at a character, reach out and see if you can put them in contact. Don't just post about it online. It makes both you and them look unprofessional.
So in conclusion, stop doing this. The number of times it has worked is so vastly outnumbered by the number of times it hasn't that it's embarrassing. And besides, why do you want to call attention to that time you didn't get cast in something?

End of thread. Have a nice day.
