Not defending Jimmy Fallon at all but if we’re gonna dig up 20 year old dirt, can we at least have an educational discussion on why it’s wrong and collectively learn from his mistakes rather than just cancelling him despite his efforts to apologize?
2000 was a v different time. You could probably find offensive shit from most people. It’s absolutely wrong. But let’s actually learn from it rather than just having a #jimmyfallonisoverparty and forgetting about it next week. Cancel culture doesn’t achieve what you think it does
I’m almost positive you could dig up some dumb racist jokes I made 10 years ago. Never with malicious intent, but because I just didn’t know better.

Now I do, but you can’t do better until you know better. Stop cancelling people for shit we can all learn and be better from.
And before you come for me:
- no, I’m not defending jimmy’s actions. he fucked up.
- no, I’m not condoning blackface/racist “jokes”. it’s never funny and always wrong.
- no, I’m not racist, I just think cancel culture doesn’t achieve anything helpful in most situations.
