The NCAA and member schools have spent decades and countless hours solidifying their claims that their athletes are students first. Not employees of the school. Now, the NCAA and many of these same institutions are beginning to make it clear that these are in fact athletes first
and their participation is critical in generating revenue for the dept in order to pay for: 6 and 7 figure salaries, private charters, elaborate stadiums used roughly 7 days a year, private jets, cars, homes, bonuses, and other unnecessary benefits many are now accustomed to
Throughout these processes, most athletes largely miss out. Many pay full or partial tuition. And women athletes, teams, Title IX, and men’s Olympic teams are repurposed as the scapegoats for unsustainable spending
