I had stopped watching OITNB after a certain episode. I’d seen it in real life w/Eric Garner & couldn’t deal w/it in fiction. I know the show ended, so it sparked my interest again. I started over from the beginning & stopped for a couple of days before I could watch THAT episode https://twitter.com/attorneycrump/status/1265261066663145472
again. Eventually, I resumed watching. A couple days later & I watch a man in real life - again - die this same way. So, we learned nothing? Nothing from Eric Garner, nothing from the show that wanted to underscore the tragedy of Garner by making the character that seemed least
likely to die this way, die this way? Just like Titanic made you care for Jack so you’d understand the pain felt by those who survived that long ago tragedy, fiction was used for it’s greatest purpose in OITNB: make you care about a character & take them away. If you have
empathy, you now have a greater understand of the pain felt by people in real life who faced the very same situation. I suppose we’ve learned something, these officers were fired very quickly. I won’t be satisfied until they are arrested, tried, convicted. An American was
murdered, for FORGERY, by a racist rogue officer & his indifferent colleagues. I’m at the part in OITNB where they have posted their demands. I have some demands of my own: if you are a white American, get fˆcking angry over the death of another American; someone figure out why
cops who are not just racist but clearly psychologically unfit to be a police officer are somehow making it through the police academy; I was physically intimidated by a cop who knew I was gay, when I was in a vulnerable situation, one I don’t care to elaborate on, but I didn’t
trust cops before Michael Brown & Eric Garner were murdered, and unlike that white-privilege-loving dog-strangling bˆtch in NY, who felt she’d be safer around a cop than an African-American birdwatcher, I do not. We know Daniel Shaver didn’t. And if Dillon Taylor had realized a
cop was following him more than 10 seconds before he was killed by that cop, neither would he have. (The cop that killed Taylor was white, some articles still claim he was black. But the entire - and very disturbing - body cam footage is on YouTube.) We might have to wait a few
months before we can get the white supremacist out of the White House, but we can start getting them out of our police forces now. And for f^ck’s sake white people, Trump may be a white supremacist, but he doesn’t care about you either. If you have money, he wants you to give
him your money while you bend your knee to him & his ego. But as soon as you’re not useful, he doesn’t care if you live or die. #GeorgeFloyd #EricGarner #icantbreathe #DanielShaver #DillonTaylor #BlackLivesMatter #BLM #AmyCooper #NoJusticeNoPeace #TrumpDeathToll100K
