THREAD: How Thomas Partey could possibly fit in at Arsenal
Partey is a tough-tackling midfielder who is able to distribute with clean short passing and dribbling.

Despite playing for team that likes to play a very deep line and absorb pressure, Partey still has a very high pass completion rate and take on success percentage.
Even with these very impressive attributes there is still the concern of how he will cope with playing in a that side that use a much higher line than Atletico.

Rodri had a similar transition from a deep block to a high line and has struggled with positioning all season.
If Arteta keeps the 4-2-3-1, Partey can either play in the deepest midfield role next to Ceballos/Guendouzi (call this Option A) or be the the slightly higher midfielder next to Xhaka (Option B)
Partey is used to the double pivot as Simeone uses the 4-4-2 week in week out. He& #39;s the midfielder that receives passes from the defence and then distributes it to the more advanced midfielders or dribbles past the first line of pressure.
He often plays next to Saul and Koke who roam much further up the pitch
But for Ghana, Partey plays in a more advanced role and with more freedom. He& #39;s played as 6, an 8 and even has few games as a 10. He has a suprising good final third presence with 9 goals in 28 games.

This means he& #39;s also able to play as the advanced player in a double-pivot.
On this part of the thread I& #39;ll talk about how Partey can fit in a 4-3-3 system that I talked about in this thread: https://twitter.com/Raumdeuter_EN/status/1263519878713094144">https://twitter.com/Raumdeute...
Partey could either fit as the deepest midfielder in a three man midfield (Option C), or he could either play as the right-sided 8 (Option D)
Atletico& #39;s midfield tends to form a midfield three when they are in possession with Partey sitting the deepest so he& #39;ll already be comfortable in that sense.
Partey can also operate as an right sided 8 as he has experience playing there with Ghana and has filled in at the RB spot which made him end up in the same areas as a right sided 8.
Here& #39;s a clip that shows how he& #39;s able to carry the ball into the right half-space:
If Partey is the only signing of the summer, then the best (and most-likely) option is to play him with Xhaka. His presence, passing ability and close-control would make him a massive upgrade over Torreira. He& #39;ll make us more defensively solid and much more flexible in build-up.
We just don& #39;t have the squad for the 4-3-3 and it would take a massive squad overhaul for it to be possible. So in the meantime it would be best to stick with the 4-2-3-1.
