In his first in-person interview in months, @JoeBiden tells @danabash that a president needs to "lead by example," contrasting his and President Trump's Memorial Day appearances with, and without masks
"He's a fool. An absolute fool to talk that way," Biden says of @realDonaldTrump mocking him for wearing a mask, calling it "macho stuff" that could cost lives.
Does wearing a mask project strength or weakness, Bash asks. "Leadership," Biden answers.
"Surge is relative," Biden says about the prospect of a resurgent economy in the fall. Says if you've lost 30 million jobs but then gain back a quarter or half, "you're still going to end up. ... with an incredibly high unemployment rate. And a lot of people in real trouble."
On "Breakfast Club" interview comment, Biden again says it was a mistake and he shouldn't have been a "wise guy." "I've got to make it clear ... why I deserve a look. And not just in comparison to him, but in comparison to anybody else running, anybody that would be running."
Biden, to those who say he shouldn't apologize when Trump doesn't apologize for anything: "When I say something that is understandably, in retrospect, offensive to someone, and legitimately offensive, making it look like I'm taking them for granted, I should apologize."
