To my fellow cops, we might not be to blame but we all are responsible for this. We are all bound by oath to serve our neighbors. All of our neighbors. We must reject this cancer of a war on our neighbors. This has to stop. We have to stop this. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/26/us/minneapolis-police-man-died.html
Driving home from my shift I screamed myself sick at this news. Another criminal death of a neighbor by fellow police officers. The officers who watched this were bound by oath to stop that officer, bound by law, & bound by the simple truth that we all matter or none of us do
Don’t get defensive when people are furious with our profession when fellow cops violate their oath. This applies to me, too. Don’t say ‘not me’ or ‘not all cops’. That might be true but it’s not the full truth. The full truth is this keeps happening. We have to stop this cancer
I’m sick for the family, friends, & neighbors of George Floyd. I’m ashamed at the actions of fellow officers. I want to quit and say ‘it’s not me’ but I believe in my neighbors enough to believe in this: Our neighbors aren’t just the point of this job; they’re HOW to do this job.
