Well, I have been gone for a while know, so let's make a thread about some of the things that have been happening for me.
1. With the COVID-19 pandemic that has been hapening, it has esentially eliminated all live sports, and as I mostly cover Football and Baseball for the Daily Lobo ( @DailyLobo), it has left me with not a lot of things to write about.
It saddens me that I wasn't able to cover the full baseball season this year, and it is even sadder that I am unable to write for the Lobo at this current time.
However, I am looking forward to writing more stories (hopefully) for the @DailyLobo next semester, and hope that I am able to cover UNM's 2020 football season.
2. The end of the semester was difficult for me, as I was feeling burnt out and lacked the energy that is required to do schoolwork to the best of my ability, this i why I have remained very silent on twitter for the past 2+ months.
As I tried to prepare myself for each class that I had left, after being sent home due to COVID-19. Thankfully, the semester is over, and I am taking a break from thinking about most things UNM related untill August.
I hope that my next semester at UNM will be better than this prevoius semester, and I think it will be. (and hope it will be.) But, only time will tell me if next semester will be better.
3. I haven't talked publicly about some of the things that have happened for the Daily Lobo. So I would like to share some of my thoughts.
pt. 1: The great Sharon Chischilly ( @Schischillyy), one of the many tallented photographers that work at the Daily Lobo, was able to shoot photos for the Washington Post for their story about the Navajo Nation and the affect that Covid is having on their community.
The article can be found here: https://wapo.st/3boUvDL . I didn't say anything when the news came out, and that has eaten a little at me, so let me say this. The photo's that Sharon took are amaizing and really show the impact that COVID has had on the Navajo Nation.
I look forward to seeing what's next for her and her potography work, and look forward to working with you again next Semester.
pt.2: Joe Rull ( @rulljoe), who is the head editor of the sports section for the Lobo, is also the data editor for the Lobo and has done a fantastic job in covering the COVID-19 epidemic.
pt.3: Their is a new Editor-in-Chief at the Daily Lobo, Alyssa Martinez ( @amart4447), and I haven't congratulated her on getting this position. I have see first hand the time and effort that she put's in to everything that she does, and I think that she will be great for the Lobo
I look forward to working with you next semester, and am exited to see how you will lead the Lobo into the future. ( I am 100% confident that you will lead the Lobo into a great future👍).
pt.4: This does mean that the man who first interviewed me for a position at the Lobo is leaving (due to graduating), so I wish Justin Garcia ( @Just516garc) good luck and I hope that you succeed in your future endeavors.
pt.5: these are not the only people that are at the Lobo (who were promoted), nor is Justin the only member to graduate. It is a peroid of turnover for the Lobo, but it is a nesecary thing for a student led paper to have.
With that being said I look forward to working with all of the new and returning editors at the Lobo; Such as Joe Rull, Sharon Chischilly, Megan Gleason, the culture editor for the Lobo ( @fabflutist2716), Andrew Gunn, the copy editor of the Lobo ( @agunnwrites),
Alex McCausland, the multimedia editor for the Lobo ( @alexkmccausland) , and Lissa (sorry I don't know your last name, or I cannot remember it at this time😅) who is the news editor for the Lobo ( @lissaknudsen), and all of the other wonderful people that work at the Lobo.
Some of these individuals are Daniel Ward ( @wordsofward34) who was the culture editor and a very talented writer, Ellie Aikman ( @eaikman1230) who is another one of the Lobo's great photographers,
and Angelina Pompeo ( @PompeoAngelina) who is also another talented writer who covered UNM Basketball last season (along with many other things).
I look forward to working with y'all again during the fall semester, and hope that y'all have a nice and relaxing summer vacation.
These are my thoughts as we enter the Summer Break. While we live in uncertian times, It is important to remember the things that happened while we were together, and to hope that things will return to normal.
Will I be around, yea, I will be. If anyone needs to contact me, they can reach out through messages or through email. I won't be posting a lot, as I normally just sit back and observe the ever-changing landscape of the world.
in the meantime, I think that I am going to relax for a while. It has been good to get this off of my chest, as this thread is something that I have been thinking about for a while. I hope that anyone who comes across this thread has a wonderful day. Thanks for reading.
