There are things as an author in fandom that I would definitely want to pump the brakes for so there is an expectation. That doesn't mean I don't write them, or deserve to be treated with hostility because I write them, just that when I anticipate a reaction, I warn for it.
I've had a couple of "parade my head on a spike in the village square" jokes as an author on writing a non-HEA reylo ending, and had people tell me TTB's HEA tag isn't "HEA Enough" despite peace, love, and marriage in the ending. I couldn't anticipate that reaction or tag for it.
Reylo Fandom is just so rich and literary: we are so lucky for stories that challenge and change us. Fic as a medium is transformative: and not into 1 thing. Not every story has to have an Avon Paperback ending. But Avon has covers that tell you exactly what you're going to get.
It took me a long time to learn that someone asking you to tag something does not automatically mean you, a person with good intentions, were in the wrong the whole time it was untagged. Tagging is a courtesy: but how you adhere to it can determine your relationship with readers.
I also have personal boundaries for what constitutes as things dangerous to leave untagged. Everyone does. Respect them. There are common triggers that have recently come up in discourse that upset me: it is weird to see this come up so violently abt HEA and not those topics.
