explaining every song from camila cabello’s album, Romance

a thread
Shameless

according to Sinu, camila’s mother, this song was written right after shawn and camila filmed the señorita music video. in this song, camila finally admits her feelings for some guy after denying them for a long time. it’s basically a song about “desiring” that boy.
Living Proof

this was one of the first songs camila wrote for the album. it’s about all the intimate moments you share with the person you love. the whole song is a metaphor for how “heavenly” it feels, which is why camila mentions God multiple times in the song.
Should’ve Said It

this song is also one of the first songs camila wrote for the album. in should’ve said it, camila expresses her anger towards the boy she had liked. the latter had only admitted his feelings for her after she had moved on and forgot about him.
My Oh My

not really a meaningful song. more of a fun, radio friendly song. idk it’s just there
Señorita

a #1 worldwide smash hit. i don’t even need to add anything.
Liar

this song was written around the same time as shameless. in Liar, camila’s feelings for a guy resurface after she thought she was over him. she’s calling herself a liar for pretending she didn’t care about him anymore, when she still did.
Bad Kind Of Butterflies

this track is characterised by its stressful beat. the song is a perfect description of the anxiety and guilt camila felt at some point of her life where she realised she had feelings for a guy when she was already in a relationship with another person.
Easy

the 8th track from romance is a cute ballad about falling in love with someone and loving them despite their flaws and despite seeing their vulnerability.
Feel It Twice

this song is kind of an apology from camila to the guy she had feelings for before. he finally started having feelings for her once she got over him. being in a relationship then, she couldn’t reciprocate those feelings. she felt it once but couldn’t feel it twice.
Dream Of You

this track is a cute innocent song about being in a happy relationship with someone you truly love and feel comfortable with.
Cry For Me

in this pop-rock song, camila expresses her anger and jealousy about the fact that a boy she had dated moved on from their relationship so fast, unlike her. she wants him to “cry for her”, be sad that they had broken up just she was.
This Love

this love is a burning ballad about the frustration a person can feel when they don’t know whether to let go of someone or keep trying, when you’re not sure whether the person is into it as much as you are or not. it’s a toxic confusing love that won’t leave you alone.
Used To This

used to this is about getting in a relationship with someone you hadn’t seen in a romantic way before and getting used to loving and treating them as more than friends. camila also uses a lot of details in this song and makes it obvious who the song is about.
First Man

the last track is a very emotional ballad camila wrote about her dad and the relationship she has with him where she tells him he’s the first man who’s ever loved her despite dating guys. the whole song is a perfect song for a father/daughter dance at a wedding.
most of the explanations i gave were from camila’s “romance unlocked” serie, that you can find on youtube.
