At the root of so much harm in this world is a sense of entitlement to control others, to own, to create the boundaries of relationship to fit ones own desires over other people's freedom, individuality, happiness, self determination and wellbeing.

That sense of entitlement says that all is right with the world ONLY if we are in control, if others abide by our views of what is right and wrong, provide us the emotional, physical comfort we feel we deserve, if they do as we say, if they fit the roles we have set for them.

And this is called coercive control. It lives in individuals, it lives systems and organizations, in attitudes of colonization, of white privilege, in abusers. #DomesticAbuse #CoerciveControl #Colonization #SystemicAbuse #Abuse
