Was literally talking about this last night during a stream... You should NOT be inspired by comics characters like Punisher to become a cop so you can "Be just like him"... He was even called by his creator @gerryconway an indictment of the justice system and its failings...
"The vigilante anti-hero is fundamentally a critique of the justice system, an example of social failure, so when cops put Punisher skulls on their cars or members of the military wear Punisher skull patches, they're basically siding with an enemy of the system."
"They are embracing an outlaw mentality. Whether you think the Punisher is justified or not, whether you admire his code of ethics, he is an outlaw. He is a criminal. Police should not be embracing a criminal as their symbol."
Meanwhile we have police officers embracing this type of attitude. Revealing their entire lack of understanding in what their job is. Killing unarmed black men because they see themselves as the hero saving the day. To them they're on the cover of the comic, name on the marquee.
We have yet another dead black man's blood on the hands of the police system. Live, in broad day light, captured on cellphones. Yet another modern day lynching. George Floyd wasn't fighting for anything other than the ability to breathe.
They really think they are the heroes right now... They beat the bad guy. They believe they served justice. These are the faces of men who know they fucked up. But are also faces of men who know the justice system will protect them from all any and all consequences.
You may disagree. You may think I'm reaching. You might believe I'm wrong. But take a minute to sit back and consider all the injustice towards black and brown men and women the last few years alone. Even the past couple of weeks. A black man shot dead by civilians because they
"thought" he was trying to rob an under construction house, which turned out to not even be close to true. A black had the police called on him JUST yesterday because a white woman "feared for her life" because he told her to put her dog on a leash in Central Park...
And she was so scared for her life that she got in his face... screamed racial epithets at him, because that would make the big bad boogey man go away. And these were just civilians... The police are even worse. and the people calling police on black men and women for nothing
know that they will likely witness a lynching. Thats the threat. They know if they call the cops, they'll likely get a black person killed. They know we as black people fear this. Police know we fear this, too. The police aren't a weapon of justice. They're Real Life Punishers
You're not cops. You're criminals. American Terrorists. And you "Blue Lives Matter" clown shoes? Being a cop is a choice. Being born Black isn't. Just remember there is a song called "Fuck the Police"... There isn't a song called "Fuck the Fire Department." And for good reason.
Oh, and while we're here... George Floyd was MURDERED. EXECUTED. LYNCHED. KILLED. Whatever you think you wanna call it, it was definitely on those aforementioned acts.
