Honestly, The Sims 4 is a great game. It’s not my personal ideal Sims game, but it is a really good game. It’s a huge step in the right direction regarding pricing. The Sims 3 Store was ridiculous overpriced. It obviously improved in performance, graphics and even in gameplay.
Many gameplay features such as clubs, occults and celebrities are vastly improved compared to the previous Sims games. There’s clearly a lack of gameplay in other areas, but the gameplay that is there is really well done. What The Sims 4 does right is often overlooked.
Like many others, I often only focus on what The Sims 4 doesn’t have. Ignoring what it does have. Again, the game does a lot of things right and that should be recognized. We will always want more and should request those things along with sharing our criticisms constructively.
But at the end of the day, this is a game that people like you and I make. They are passionate about it. They want to make what we want. It’s a complicated process to make those things happen. I’m sure if the developers had the power, they would release more stuff that we want.
It’s important to understand that The Sims 4 is its own separate game developed on a different engine than the previous games. There’s going to be features from the other games missing just like TS3 was missing features from TS2 and TS2 was missing features from TS1.
I will play the older Sims games when I crave those beloved older features and enjoy The Sims 4 for what it is. Of course I’ll always criticize it and want those features back. But just because The Sims 4 doesn’t have those older features doesn’t mean it’s a bad game.
