Thread: Why Paul Pogba since re-joining Manchester United is under appreciated and underrated by #mufc fans and rival fans.
Paul Pogba has been criticised by tons of football fans since he re-joined Manchester United — this thread will debunk the myths surrounding him using facts and stats whilst also showing just how important he is to #mufc success.
Paul Pogba work rate: one point people use about Pogba is he doesn’t show any desire to move around the pitch, Paul Pogba 18/19 covered 9.96 km per match this is more than Fabinho (8.91), Fernandinho (9.75) and Kovacic (6.96) showing this is a myth and he does his part.
Paul Pogba defensive contribution: another point that’s made is Paul Pogba doesn’t help his team in the defensive areas of the pitch, Paul Pogba 18/19 made more clearances (36) than Kanté (26) and Fabinho (26) showing that he’s more than willing to contribute defensively.
Paul Pogba offensive output in 18/19 in a Manchester United side underperforming for large amounts is nothing short of spectacular. Not only did he have the most goals and assists of any midfielder in the premier league but also in Europe top 5 leagues.
Pogba is also a world class dribbler using a combination of his pace and power to bully the opposition, in 18/19 Paul completed 1.7 dribbles per game and won 2 fouls per game. This is much better than De’Bruyne 19/20 who completes 1.4 dribbles but only wins 0.7 fouls per game.
Paul Pogba passing range isn’t limited to one or two passes, he has every pass in his game and can use it at anytime to effectively break the defensive lines such as we’ve seen against Chelsea this season or Spurs 18/19 for Rashfords goal. 31% of Pogba passes are forward passes.
Paul Pogba doesn’t just stat pad against the worse teams in the league either, he’s got 9 G+A against the big 6 and if you include Leicester in a big 7 now he has 13 G+A. Paul Pogba also inspired one of the best comebacks in a Manchester Derby ever scoring twice to win 3-2
In 2016/2017 Paul Pogba inspired a Manchester United team to win the Europe League and complete the major trophy set for #mufc, scoring in the final and winning the player of the tournament award in the process. Paul can do it on the biggest stages with no struggle.
Paul Pogba in 2018 won the World Cup. Throughout the competition Pogba was the best midfielder and top 3 players. Scoring in the World Cup final becoming the first player since 1998 from the premier league to do that. Paul Pogba was also awarded the man of the match in the final.
For Manchester United there is no player more important to the team than Paul. When Paul is in the team #mufc create 14 chances per game and 4 of those are big chances. without him that drops drastically to 7 chances created per game and 1 big chance.
I know some people will be reluctant to listen to a football twitter account so here’s some quotes from the people that know the game inside out: https://twitter.com/lzzdayan/status/1256610197218512897
the best quote comes from the best midfielder to ever play the game Zidane: ‘he’s a midfielder who knows how to defend and how to attack. He knows how to do everything on the pitch.’ — this sort of praise from one of the best ever shows he’s more than good, he’s world class.
Here is a compilation that shows Paul Pogba story in the best way possible:
I’m going to end this thread with some of Paul Pogba trophies with Manchester United — Paul has 6 recognised trophies with Manchester United and was also part of the squad that won the premier league in 2013. Without Paul #mufc would have only 1 trophy in 8 years.
Paul Pogba doesn’t want to play for his club and is faking an injury is the worst slander I see — a quote from Ole earlier this year: ‘Paul’s had a terrible season with injuries, he’s desperate to play football, He loves playing and he loves just being out there training as well’
It’s no coincidence as to why Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG and Juventus all want/wanted Pogba. He’s the most well rounded midfielder in the world today with no real weakness to his game. He’s also only 27 which means he’s just coming into his prime.
Here’s to hoping Paul stays at #mufc for many more years to come and builds a formidable midfield partnership with Bruno Fernandes. Paul will be vital to any success #mufc have. One of the most underrated and under appreciated midfielders in the world.
