Good afternoon and happy Tuesday, everyone.

We're back to work after a busy weekend for Clark County. For many of us, Monday was a day off to relax and recuperate from the relentless task of covering this pandemic.

Well, sort of.

. @thecolumbian has the unusual policy of requiring its workers to use accrued time off to take federal holidays. We accrue both sick time and vacation time, but must use one or the other to get paid on days off many American workers receive with pay.

It's a bizarre policy, and one, frankly, that was a huge motivator in our workers' desire to organize for a seat at the table.

So last week, a few of us got together by Zoom to share our thoughts.
