This week I'll be reminiscing about arguably my favourite walk/scramble in the whole Lake District! Even the great Wainwright said it's one of the best walks in the Lakes that doesn't include a summit!
However I added a wee detour to the route to the summit of Kirk Fell, as the view of Gable from there is one of the finest!
The view is Seathwaite Valley on a hazy morning as I started my ascent towards Gable... photos of my progress will be added through the week #LakeDistrict
1st pic similar to the previous photos, taken just above the Seathwaite Slabs with a closer look at the River Derwent & Seathwaite Farm. From here its onto the hanging valley of Gillercomb, a vast open space that sits between Base Brown, & Brandreth & Grey Knotts. #LakeDistrict
After the relatively easy walk up through Gillercomb you reach the col between Green Gable & Base Brown, the summit of the latter seen here. #LakeDistrict
After a wee detour to Base Brown it was on to Green Gable, from where the views in all directions are simply phenomenal! But the first thing to strike you is your first sight of the north face of Great Gable itself, this is where the fun starts! #LakeDistrict
