Q2. We know how important it is for every child to see themselves in texts that they read. Which picturebooks would you recommend that reflect diversity in all of its forms?

Rudine Sims Bishop was incredibly influential in shaping my view of literature. She talks about texts being mirrors, windows and sliding glass doors, allowing readers to experience the depth and breadth of the richly diverse world that surrounds them.
One of my recent discoveries is ‘Hair Love’ written by Matthew A. Cherry, illustrated by Vashti Harrison. It’s a beautiful tender story showing the close and loving relationship that a father has with his daughter.
