Hi @darth. It’s a no good, awful day, but I want to tell you a story and ask for your help finding someone named - I think - Libby Chapman, who used to live in southern Kentucky and who gave me this Best Girl, Molly, 13 years ago when I was a young soldier at Fort Campbell, KY.
I only have a handwritten note from [email protected] with her food and training instructions. I found Molly on @petfinder and Ms. Chapman met me at a truck stop about 20 miles north of the TN-KY border.

She asked me to keep in touch, and I’m sad to say that I stopped too soon.
Molly was my best friend. She came with me as I moved from Tennessee to Virginia, got married, had kids, and she came with me as I joined the Foreign Service and travelled the world.
She came with us to Djibouti and Brazil between 2013-2018, and came back with us to Virginia in 2018 while I learned Turkish. Up until the day before we departed in July, she was supposed to come with us.
But as we were leaving Brazil in 2018, the vet told us Molly had developed a heart condition we should monitor. It got worse while we were back in the US, and the day we were supposed to fly to Turkey, it was 104* at our layover.
She would have died, and I couldn’t bear the thought of her dying alone, scared, in the cargo hold of a plane or on a tarmac.

Thank God, my parents were able to take her in, and for the last 10 months, have given her the best time of her life.
But she’s dying now. She’s going to die tomorrow. And I can’t get home to be with her, because of COVID. And I now it’s far less than the grief of 100s of 1000s of families who can’t be with their loved ones in their final moments right now...

...but it hurts. And I’m sad.
And for some strange reason I just want to find Libby Chapman and thank her for giving us 13 wonderful years with a beautiful little blue tick coonhound she found abandoned in the woods.

She was my best friend.

So I’d be grateful if you could help me find Ms Chapman.
It’s late here, and I’m hoping for a miracle overnight. My DMs are open if anyone has a lead on someone who used to use the AOL address “libchap65”.

Thanks, y’all.
