Update: Last night I brought a motion to consult with First Nations on the Vancouver School Board’s Land and Asset Strategy.

The board would not debate my motion and instead referred it to a committee.

Problem is...

...by the time the committee debates this, the VSB Land and Asset Strategy report will be done. By referring the motion, the board has decided against any relevant consultation with First Nations on an $8 billion strategy on land and asset use...

...In the same meeting, we voted on sending a memo to VSB principals about zero tolerance for racism. I am deeply concerned that we cannot see the links between these issues. We voted on UNDRIP. "Land" is in the name of the strategy. It could not be more clear to me.
