As I close in on 6k followers I thought it would be nice to write a nice thread on how I got here.

I'll add as I remember stuff.
Pick a specific niche, but don't get too narrow.

I'd been dividend investing for a while and actually opened this account last year without much activity.

I could talk more broadly about investing, but that wasn't really interesting to me and too hard to market well.
Talk to people in DMs.

My take is that if you're not growing, you're not providing value.

I try my best to respond to DMs and tweets although it's getting hard to do so.

Don't be a boring lecturer.

People don't come here to be told what to do.

They come to think and learn different perspectives.

Have a sense of humor. Entertaining and instructive is the cool sweet spot for me. https://twitter.com/DivCultivator/status/1263816202616520704
Add value to others' tweets.

I've been doing this less lately, but putting generic platitudes under others' tweets isn't going to earn likes and RTs.

Specific examples and stories do earn RTs.

Also, help others with social validation. When you buy a course, tweet it.
Speaking of platitudes.

I skip them unless they're funny or original.

In fact I make fun of them sometimes. https://twitter.com/DivCultivator/status/1264876685817765888
Be kind.

This side of Twitter is fun.

The side where people bring people down to hide their insecurities is a horrible dark place.

Speak authoritatively.

I am not the best dividend investor.

But I know my strategy well and can almost instantly tell if a stock is worth further research.

I don't dally around with crap, because ain't nobody got time for that.

Don't affiliate market for a few bucks when the product doesn't fit what you believe.

I'm 100% confident I could make $2k per week selling products I don't believe in.

However, that doesn't fit my ethos.

My bread and butter is long term investing so I stick with that.
