Thanks to my parents, I now believe there’s such a thing as right person, wrong time. They’re the epitome of this and I’m grateful that God brought them back together at the right time, in the funniest way.
So bam. My parents met after they had finished high school. According to my dad, he knew my mom was his wife the minute he laid eyes on her. My mom claims she didn’t like my dad because he was short and he wasn’t chocolate lol. So she never paid him any mind.
My dad grew up with my mom’s cousin and her brother so he always had the pleasure of being around her and basking in her beauty. They all lived in the barracks and my maternal grandmother would come and visit. The first time she met my dad, she was in love with him for my mom.
My grandma would make my mom cook for my dad and mind you, they were barely friends (according to my mom) but I don’t believe that. One day, I guess they got bored and did the do and bam, my mom ended up pregnant at 17.
By this time, my dad had moved to Lagos and had no contact with my mom so she was never able to tell him that she was pregnant. A few months after moving to Lagos, he ended up moving to the United stages at the tender age of 18.
My dad was here in the US for about 7 years before he finally went back to Nigeria in 1990. Upon his arrival, he went to his uncle’s house and no one knew who he was 😂 he reintroduced himself and everyone went wild.
There were little kids all around him jumping and saying hi. My dad’s oldest sister comes and is overcome with joy that she’s seeing her little brother after so many years. There was a little girl standing around with everyone else. She didn’t really know what was going on.
My dad’s sister pointed to the little girl and asked my dad if he knew who she was. My dad was extremely confused by the question. He looked at the little girl and his sister told him: “that’s your daughter”
My dad being who he is passed out upon hearing the news.
When he came back to his senses, he examined this little girl, who is my older sister and saw his mother, my grandmother’s face in hers. He now went and grabbed a mirror and held it up to both of their faces and that was his version of a DNA test.
Now at this time, my dad had a live in girlfriend back in the US that he had been with for 4 years. When he found out about my sister, he called her and told her and sis broke up with him and moved out of their apartment 💀 look at God.
My mom was unaware of my dad’s presence in Nigeria, as she was completing her youth service. Everyone begged my dad to go see my mom, even my maternal grandparents begged my dad but he didn’t want to go see her for various reasons.
My dad’s older siblings set him up and took him to my mom’s hostel. When my dad knocked on my mom’s door, she was in shock. She thought she saw a ghost. She never told my dad about my sister, even though she was in the car but she didn’t know that.
My dad now made my sister come out of the car and he made it known that he’s aware of my sister’s existence. He turned around to leave and my mom started crying because she wanted him to stay LOLOL. All that shakara for nothingggggggg.
My parents ended up hanging out later that day and that was essentially the beginning of their relationship. Two years later, they got married. 4 years after that, they gave birth to greatness (me)💁🏾‍♀️
Despite all that happened, God brought them back together at HIS time.
In conclusion, there is such a thing as right person, wrong time but if that person really is the right person, God will bring them back together at his time. And lastly, God’s will will always prevail. ALWAYS!
