i love BATS

can i show you guys a bat i have been thinking about for DAYS

okay so this is the Honduran white bat, also known as the Caribbean white tent-making bat (image from Wikimedia commons)

some reasons i would die for this bat:

1. they use their teeth to construct little leaf tents for themselves, like this:

2. per this paper, honduran white bats do a little song to find each other in the morning. so cute! http://www.upacificosur.org/Docentes/gchaverri/Gillam%20et%20al%202013_Social%20calls%20tent%20bats.pdf

3. the honduran white bat is very tiny (only about 4-5cm or like 2 inches) and is the epitome of "no talk me im angy"

4. the honduran white bat is a frugivore, meaning it eats mainly fruit. this is already very cute. but what's even CUTER is the HWB eats basically one kind of fruit — a fig called Ficus colubrinae.

oh to be a tiny tent-constructing bat feasting on a very specific kind of fig!
