Hey whites pass this on!

The #AmyCooper thing is isn't an isolated incident or even that uncommon.

The victims are often Black men, and it's usually perpetrated by white women.

It's usually ignored because most folks are incapable of seeing Black men as victims.

#AmyCooper knew exactly what she was doing in that video, and completely aware she was recorded. Everything she did was intentional.
Her words.
How her voice changed.
The tears.
That even though she knew she was on video, she confidently fabricated her own narrative.

And her intention was absolutely clear.
She wasn't concerned about the dog.
Her life wasn't being threatened.
SHE was menacing her victim.
She was uncomfortable and felt that he deserved to die.

The "African American" man was threatening her life.

I've been harrassed for fitting the description of "African American" male" from age 6 to now. I grew up understanding that I can fit that role at any time and at any place.

I've also met a lot of #AmyCooper-types.

A lot.

"A lot" a lot.

From my own personal experiences, and hearing very similar things from other often Black men, and seeing videos of this same thing, and knowing historically this is commonplace, and yet in discussions about what abuse is and looks like...
"it's not the same thing"

5/9
Whenever there is a discussion about the fetishization or predation of Black men it usually consists of

"Black men ask for it."
"It's what they want."
"These Black men said they want it, therefore you want it."

Or my favorite,

"Black men need therapy."

6/9
Inb4 "everyone needs therapy"
Yes, but what does the average therapist looks like? Also, sure you can shop around for therapists only if you have money to do so.

Even among other Black (often male) SWs it's a difficult space to navigate out of fear of being "blacklisted"

Last April I even shared an experience of mine, where someone felt the need to put my life in danger because they "felt threatened".

Very few people reached out.
Because a white afab person said I was a threat.

This happens a lot,
If we're lucky, we're able to get footage or receipts.
If not we're usually dead.

And when the damage is done no one checks on these victims.

Because we don't look like victims to you or #AmyCooper
Black men are only threats.
