I make my living as a pinup/nsfw artist, and it& #39;s fun! I wouldn& #39;t do it if I didn& #39;t enjoy it, and the support I get from it is awesome. I am so grateful!

Though, I get the most fulfillment from doing scenic/epic/slice-of-life fantasy drawings. I need to find more time for them.
I really just want to do both:
- sexy pinups, and
- epic non-sexy-intended fantasy scenes.

I enjoy them both, I don& #39;t want to give one up for the other.

Professionally speaking, it& #39;s a hard balance. I only have so much time, so that means focusing on the one pays the bills.
This dichotomy has been divisive to my audience, in the past.

On DeviantArt, I have (roughly) two kinds of followers: pro-pinup and anti-pinup folks.

The anti-pinup group complains a lot when I post a sexy pic, saying: "I wish you would have drawn (something not sexy) instead."
The pro-pinup group, though, seems a lot more inviting, overall. I post a sexy pic? Cool! I post a non sexy fantasy scene? Cool!
Sure, sometimes you get the random weird complaint, like "boobs too small" or whatever, but it& #39;s not too common, in my experience.
The only real downside about being a pinup artist, to me, is when I get comments that try to twist a non-sexy art to somehow be perverted.

I mean, I get it. I draw a lot of lewd stuff. But I& #39;m not horny all the time, and it& #39;s nice to celebrate other human experiences, ya know?
But, that& #39;s the nature of social media. No matter how we try to show our personal diversity, people will see artists as a brand. A character. A source of a type of content, usually boiled down to one specific thing.
I& #39;ve leaned into this, lately.
If I post a lot of elves, people start to know me as the elf dude. I post a day or two of butts, and I get the title "Butt Lord".
It& #39;s all in fun, and I know if I started posting some other topic for a few days, that would become what I& #39;m known for.
Some folks resist my jumps from topic to topic. They& #39;d prefer I remain "elf dude" or "butt lord", and make that connection to everything I do, which... can be wearisome.

And hey, I totally get that, too. They& #39;re trying to connect in a familiar way, and that& #39;s flattering.
Ultimately, I know this is just how it works.
I know that it& #39;s impractical to expect thousands of people to be on the same page as me.
But if I& #39;ve reacted to your comment in a way you didn& #39;t expect, just know that it& #39;s hard to meet every stranger on their terms. Though I try!
Anyways, I& #39;m gonna keep posting a mix of sexy and not-intended-to-be-sexy works, with a heavy leaning towards the sexy stuff, because that& #39;s what gets the most attention and support.

Either way I& #39;m having fun, and I hope you do, too! https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đź’—" title="Growing heart" aria-label="Emoji: Growing heart">
