. @STVNews just ran a story about a Fife care home, Glenburnie, refusing to implement Scottish Government guidelines for care homes.

This highlights something my wife, a retired nurse with social care experience, has always said.

While the FM has been getting criticised...
...by the media for what's been happening in Scotland's private care homes, those care homes are a law unto themselves.

The @scotgov can implement as much guidance as it likes and private care homes can ignore them and have ignored them.

If workers in the NHS acted like this
...they'd be sacked.

Meanwhile, STV journalists made no criticism, explicit or implicit, of the private care home manager who decided to ignore official guidance.

The care home owners must have confidence in their lawyer.

If the home has an outbreak, they're going to need one.
I should have made clear that the guidance quoted said homes should keep each resident in their room. I personally feel that the manager has a case for that being guidance that would affect residents' mental health. But, if that's the guidance, ignoring it isn't the way to go.
