I've seen this circulating. I've said it once, I'm saying it again: passion does not equate to hours put in.
Each to their own in terms of work hours. However, many feel they absolutely have to work these ridiculous hours to stay ahead. When is it too much? When we reach burnout? When we can no longer do anything else?
We also have to recognise how much privilege plays into hours worked. If we cannot work 80+ hours does that make us less good? In the metrics focused, paper machine academia we live in, apparently yes it does.

How can we expect to diversify if this is the bar?
