Till 2016, AB could have batted anywhere from 1 to 7 in any format of the game. That's what makes him an ATG.

In the last 3 years and especially now, a T20 team that gets him should construct its side in a way he bats at No.5. https://twitter.com/Static_a357/status/1265253098152292354
AB vs spin in IPL in the last 3 years:

320 balls, 423 runs, 132 SR, 25 RPW

That's average. You don't want to start him in a phase where spinners feel at home.
AB vs Pace in IPL in the last 3 years:

405 balls, 715 runs, 176 SR, 89 RPW
Has only been dismissed twice in the 255 balls he has played against pace post powerplay. That's mental.
For a long period of time, there is not much you can do against AB as a bowling unit. So it made sense he batted as early as possible in T20s.

Now it isn't so; wrist spin gets him out and keeps him quiet at the same time, while SLA continues to limit his SR.
The other alternative to this is playing him as an opener. It isn't worth it, because finding an opener is a lot easier than finding a finisher.
As a bowling team captain, I would be very happy to see you give me AB when I have 8 overs of spin than when I have 1 or 2.
