Have you ever gone through something that someone else didn’t understand because they themselves hadn’t gone through it? I remember telling someone I had to put wax on my braces after every appt because the metal would cut the inside of my mouth. They didn’t believe they 1/
would do that and so I asked, “have you had braces before?” She said no. “So why are you arguing with me about what they can and cannot do?” I was 16 at the time.

Now some of you from ages 16 to 90 are arguing about what black people say they experience when dealing w/ 2/
certain white people and you’re still arguing. Still sounding just as ignorant and unwilling to check your ego that you can be WRONG. Just because you’ve never seen it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist and when we point out when it does and you still deny it, you don’t make me 3/
you look bad your denial looks bad and shows WHO YOU ARE and that’s part of the problem of why racism is still being upheld. Exercising racism comes in many forms including denying it when it’s there. I am a black woman first and foremost and I will always speak out about this 4/
because it affects me. My children, people I ❤️ and the community I belong to. I grew up in white suburbia. I went to the most elite private schools. I have seen it around me both quietly and loudly. Subtle and direct. It exists. It’s still breeding. It is overt and undercover. 5
