Nobody is forcing you to use safety tools in your game.
That said - when you laugh at them and denigrate the people who choose to use them, then say "just have a conversation with me", you& #39;re sending a very clear sign that any such conversation would be met with mockery.

If you& #39;re actively hostile to people who advocate for safety tools, why should anyone trust that you& #39;ll be open to a conversation about why I don& #39;t want to play in a game where sexual assault is played for laughs, or included at all?
Everyone has a right to choose who they play with, and to choose what themes occur in their games. That goes both ways, of course.
But it& #39;s just a matter of common courtesy to allow people to opt out of certain themes and topics *before they occur at the table*

And, even better, it allows players who *do* want to engage with traditionally troubling themes to *explicitly opt in to them* - & to know when they do that that they can trust you to handle them maturely, and to allow you to revoke their consent to those themes without judgement
*Allow them
When everyone trusts and respects one another, and everyone feels safe, everybody has a better time. Thet should be obvious.

I also think it& #39;s vitallty important that white men who present cis-het (even when we aren& #39;t) such as myself advocate for these tools loudly and frequently.
So often the voices talking about safety and consent are marginalized, and that makes it easy for the people who *really* need to hear this conversations to dismiss them.
I& #39;ve been vocal about this stuff before, but i can do more and I& #39;m going to try to lead by example on this.

This thread was riddled with typos. Sorry about that. If anything was unclear as a result of them, let me know and I& #39;ll clarify.
This is taking off, which sort of proves my point later in the thread that white men should be talking about this regularly.
I won& #39;t promote myself here. Instead I& #39;m going to recommended you follow @KiennaS & @jl_nicegirl and listen to what they have to say about safety in RPGs.
