THREAD: This is false and the AMA knows it. Anyone in Alberta from another country or otherwise will receive physician & hospital services for the treatment of #COVID19 – even if they don't have health coverage or ability to pay. 1/4 https://twitter.com/Albertadoctors/status/1265317881216000001
With regards to changes to good-faith billing, anyone in Alberta, homeless or otherwise, will receive the emergency or urgent care that they may need. This is the law under the Hospitals Act. 2/4
Once service is rendered and the patient is well enough to communicate, AHS will work with the patient to determine residency. This is similar to other provinces such as Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, & Saskatchewan - it has not impacted their ability to support patients. 3/4
For non-emergency care, service providers have technology and systems to confirm the identity and eligibility of patients who may not carry their health cards or other identification. 4/4
