Journalism exists to hold power to account. But most of the media, owned by billionaires, seeks to protect power from the people, rather than the people from power.

There are brave people in almost every media organisation, trying to do their jobs despite the demands of the proprietor and other institutional pressures. It's the system that is at fault, rather than all those it employs.
