IMO, there are no right answers regarding how we respond to Amy Cooper and lots of people are offering threads as learning opportunities.

My hope is it's another chance for us (i.e. White women of a certain age) to consider our role as bystanders. https://twitter.com/JennBinis/status/1086650638493196289
Everything I've read and learned about what it means to be a bystander basically comes down to the power of muscle memory. That, in the moment, if we haven't thought about and practiced how to engage, we fall back on habits based in fear (generally speaking.)
And White women's habits around Black men can be deadly. There's a vast library of historical evidence that speaks to that pattern. So, we have to actively choose and teach ourselves what muscles to kick in when we're a bystander.
There's no way of knowing if other people were around in that moment or if they tried to intercede but IMO, it's worth us considering what we would do if we were bystanders and how we're going to make sure "call the police" is so far down on the list, it doesn't even occur to us.
And if your goal is to avoid the path Amy followed... https://twitter.com/ShanaVWhite/status/1265316663844646921
