Okay @Ben_Etc figured out our next movie! It’s going to be Can’t Hardly Wait. Here’s a breakdown of the clues (some of which Ben got and one of which @Dantendo64 got)
“T-shirt” - there’s an iconic (in the minds of James and Erin) line in this movie where Jason Segel is describing Ethan Embry’s character and which Jennifer Love Hewitt summarizes as “so, he’s sort of tall, with...hair, and he wears t-shirts sometimes?
Girlfriend - Matthew Sweet’s song “Girlfriend” played in Crossroads and he has a different song on the CHW soundtrack
Big Star - as Daniel correctly assessed, this is a ref to the band Big Star, whose singer was named Alex Chilton. The Replacements had an album called Pleased to Meet Me. The 2nd single was called “Alex Chilton”. The 1st single was called “Can’t Hardly Wait”

Love - as Ben correctly assessed, this is Jennifer Love Hewitt’s nickname (and she’s in the movie)
