We’re pretty familiar with the trauma that combat can evince, but anyone who has talked to CAF members involved in the SwissAir cleanup knows that non-combat emotional trauma has a lasting effect, too 2/x

The extent to which we have asked (in many cases) young reservists to witness and experience civilian vulnerability, pain, and suffering—in Canada—while serving in LTC homes cannot be ignored. 3/x

My two hopes for the eventual outcomes of all of this (entirely preventable) tragedy: 1, for-profit, cost-cutting eldercare will be permanently abolished in Canada, and 2, we will comprehensively provide for the CAF members left to deal with the human victims of profit /fin
