caught up on Brooks, Adams and McKennie from the weekend and despite their flaws they're still half of the spine of my USMNT starting XI

- Brooks was very good until he tried to step in the 77th min to make something happen and got caught upfield. Not a good moment...
...but the impulse was understandable given his team was down 1-0, not threatening much, and he had created a dangerous attack by stepping earlier in the match.
- Adams looked good at the 6 off the bench, dominant defensively, still lacks comfort receiving the ball in traffic...
...and needs to improve that if he's going to lock down the starting CDM job for RBL.
- McKennie is talented and confident but commits a handful of ugly mistakes every time he plays. Like Adams when it comes to the half-turn, McKennie just needs to eliminate the ragged moments.
So Brooks is an occasional defensive liability, Adams is panicky in tight space, and McKennie is too often a hot mess. This has been who they are for...years now. But even if none of them improves they're still the starters at CB, No. 6 and No. 8 for the US for the time being.
