As I read about another black man murdered in Minneapolis Minnesota by a cop, (citizen approached because of suspected forgery. That crime does not merit deadly force.) I’m going to break down how Minnesota has quietly become the 8th worst racial disparity in arrests. 1/THREAD
The racism was obvious when I was a prison pastor. This is why I care so much about legalizing marijuana AND expunging criminal records.
All I’m going to use is math to prove racism and unjust mass-incarceration. Put your feelings about weed away, I don’t care one bit 2/THREAD
From Lincoln county MN with its 6,000 people population and it’s 50 black people where you are 144 TIMES more likely to be arrested for using marijuana while black than white people despite statically 500 white people are using marijuana... 3/THREAD
To MY home county, Dakota, where being black with marijuana will lead to 5 times more likely arrest than a white person. Total population 429,000. 30,000 of whom are black.

IF It were not systemic racism, there would be 1 county in Minnesota where white people are arrested at a higher percentage (not per capita) the only counties with “equal” percentage of arrests are counties with less than one percent of the population being black.
5/THREAD
Counties with under 1% of their population black. They are still arresting disproportionately to white people. It is not used data because they can’t say 100% of black people are arrested in “out state” for marijuana use because the sample size is to small. 6/THREAD
EXCEPT. It’s not a statistic abusing an undersized example.
It’s what’s happening.
EVERYTHING IN A NUTSHELL. If you’re black in Minnesota, God help you because the state isn’t going to. 7/THREAD #ImNoOneSpecial
Police use marijuana arrests in “out state” to uproot and move black people from the lives they’re building to jail or prison typically located in the seven county metro. 7/THREAD #ImNoOneSpecial
Then, having no home to go back to and more often than not whatever family they have cannot financially help they are forced to start new lives typically with no family or friends in the cities.
8/THREAD
It’s a vicious, racist cycle. Democrat, republican, if they won’t support ending this century old, unAmerican law then tell them you won’t support them.
I think we are better than this Minnesotans. Please prove me right. 9/END @mngop @MinnesotaDFL #MNLEG @AGEllison @GovTimWalz
