I didn't watch the video until late last night. I sat in my chair and quietly cried. In the same park that a white woman conspired to send 5 innocent black & brown boys to jail for a crime they did not commit, we have another white woman come along & intentionally try to have
This brother killed. I don't care what his job is (my employment does not mean you can kill me), what his credentials are (my education does not mean you can kill me), or any nefarious deed he did in his past (my past does not mean you can kill me). She knew exactly what she was
Doing. This was not a "bad day."

I'm a social worker, I practically bleed compassion, but some of you mistake compassion as a reason to condone terrible behavior. It's why you co-sign dog whistles & bigotry even when it's right in your damn face.

This woman wanted him dead.
She knew that all she had to do was raise her voice a couple of octaves, sound hysterical, say the magic word ("there's an African American man threatening me"), and boom: another black man dead. Another life ruined.

Why do I have to carry the burden of your bigotry?
Why is it on me to extend compassion to you, when it's my very existence that somehow renders your compassion gone?

That man didn't do anything wrong. He asked her to leash her dog. After choking her dog (don't think it's lost on me that alot of you are more upset about THAT)
She activated her inner racist and wants this man killed.

And, somehow, I'm supposed to give you compassion!? My humanity doesn't matter at all to you except for when you can sing our songs and eat our food, and you want me to, what?

kneel with you? Pray with you? Hold you?
No. The answer is no.

You answer injustice with justice, period. It is not an injustice that her bigotry cost her her job. It is not an injustice that her bigotry cost her her dog. It is not an injustice that now the whole world knows who she is.
I've about had it with this ask to extend olive branches to bigots.

A black man wouldn't even call the cops in that situation because we know exactly how it would work out for us: another black face on a t-shirt while you cash a check for compassion.

No.
