I'm glad to see the surge in mail-in ballots, but concerned that our election commissioners don't have the budgets that their offices need to administer an unprecedented election cycle.

My questions for city commissioner @DeeleyforPhilly in Council this morning👇
Q: Many constituents are concerned that they did not submit a mail-in ballot correctly. Will those ballots be invalidated and will voters be informed?

A: In my experience, if the intent of the voter is clear, and the security of the envelop is intact, the vote will be counted.
Q: Are there plans for a public accounting of how the June primary went?

A: It is my intention, because this is such a unique election, to have a debrief… if we have to do this again in November, we will do it armed with the knowledge that we take away from June 2.
Q: It sounds like the current budget barely covers your needs given the increased costs of paper ballots. What are the things that you think will, or will not, get done with the current budget?

A: We are in danger of not being able to run the November election.
