[CW/TW: racism, homophobia, various political discourse, etc]

i wish folx, especially white folx, would listen when marginalized folx raise concerns regarding issues that are problematic for various reasons because there’s no nuance or understanding within one’s privilege. https://twitter.com/jenreadsromance/status/1265254025345347586
when the excuse of “you can’t judge it by the cover and blurb when you haven’t read it” is used to silence and gaslit valid concerns regarding problematic issues and context, only to be proven that hurt is very much ingrained within the said narrative?

it’s messed up.
when problematic issues arise, they need to be acknowledged and fixed—this isn’t up to sensitivity readers or anyone but the creator(s) to re-examine your own damn privilege.

like honestly, was this really your story to tell? no.

and the evidence speaks for itself.
i am furious for those who expressed these concerns and discomfort only to be gaslit and dismissed as being too “sensitive” or “overreacting” when clearly they were not.

too many times this happens and the excuses are made and sung about too often.

accountability is a must.
