two days later and I'm still mad about this https://twitter.com/wirewalking/status/1264659710042607616
at the risk of ranting about this AGAIN: this is precisely why we need so much more representation of fictional characters who care deeply about each other in a way that isn't sex- or romance-centered. Could be ace/aro characters, or ANY characters who are close w/o romance/sex.
using romance/sex as the only marker of devotion between fictional characters is the same level of lazy shorthand that gives us stupid tropes like "vomiting woman must be pregnant." It's boring. There are so many options here to explore.
Love that we're starting to see a bit of ace/aro representation in fiction, but where I think we're falling short is in depicting strong friendships between characters regardless of their sexuality ~independent of that friendship.~ I would love to see this normalized.
