at the risk of ranting about this AGAIN: this is precisely why we need so much more representation of fictional characters who care deeply about each other in a way that isn& #39;t sex- or romance-centered. Could be ace/aro characters, or ANY characters who are close w/o romance/sex.
using romance/sex as the only marker of devotion between fictional characters is the same level of lazy shorthand that gives us stupid tropes like "vomiting woman must be pregnant." It& #39;s boring. There are so many options here to explore.
Love that we& #39;re starting to see a bit of ace/aro representation in fiction, but where I think we& #39;re falling short is in depicting strong friendships between characters regardless of their sexuality ~independent of that friendship.~ I would love to see this normalized.
