Having written my 'VR isn't working outside' post, wondering if I should do 'bitcoin is not a consumer technology' next.
I always used to hear people say 'we need a consumer on-ramp to crypto'. Why? That's like saying we needed a consumer on-ramp to open source. Even if open source is good, it doesn't follow that any actual user needs to know.
"This lets you move money between countries with no fees or commission" = clear and useful
"built on blockchain technology to enable people to move Libra, a borderless cryptocurrency" = who cares?
There is a graveyard of companies that tried to sell consumer products as 'open' or even 'open source'. I suspect there will be another one for companies that try to sell consumer products as 'built on blockchain'. That is not a user benefit.
