I want brothers to go as hard against sexist violence as sistas go hard against racist violence

But that can never happen or be true bc they can't relate. They can never relate on our level.

That hurts sometimes, but most times, I just accept it for what it is
A Black man killed his ex-girlfriend and her two oldest daughters bc she went to the beach with her new boyfriend

That's sexist, gendered violence

It should enrage those who say they're for Black Liberation, but it won't. That "doesn't count".
As often as we point out "Black people are X times more likely to_____ than white people", how do so many refuse to acknowledge that BW are 3x more likely to be killed by intimate partners than WW?

Why does that need to be silenced in the name of Black Liberation?
I didn't sleep much last night because I was so broken over this story. https://twitter.com/FeministaJones/status/1265147665299451905
Another Black woman is dead. Killed in an act of sexist, gendered violence and Shanta Renee Singleton deserves to have her story told.

She just went to the beach. She was a Black woman killed for going to the beach.
I've been at this shit long enough to know that "It's not the same" is what people REALLY think bc they don't think sexist violence is "as bad" as racist violence.

Ppl also won't admit they don't see BW as important to advocate for, but it's true.
How do we liberate ourselves as Black people, fighting against white supremacy and anti-Black racism and prejudice, when we refuse to address the RAMPANT sexist violence against Black women/ femmes?
We can be angry abt Amy Cooper and read Christian Cooper being conciliatory. I gag at that shit, but it's his choice. He's alive. He walked away. She's losing everything.

We can also lament the slaying of Shanta Renee Singleton and her daughters, Tre’vay and Essence
I cried over this because little 12 year old Tre’vay tried to save her mother. She jumped on his back to try and stop him. He shot her. How do you look at a little girl and just shoot her bc you're mad her mom went to the beach with another man?
Look at them

3 of them aren't with us anymore because a man's ego and pride couldn't let them live
In some of my speeches, I say that we have no concept of liberation that isn't linked to what we know of oppression. We can't even fathom Black life that doesn't include it. We have to imagine freedom that isn't defined as "non-oppression" bc we'll always be linked to them. https://twitter.com/klass_sick/status/1265285098347417600
Even in our freedom fights, we still allow white people to define liberation for us.
What is Blackness when not defined as "not whiteness"? We have to focus on that. We have to stop letting white supremacy shape EVERYTHING, including what liberation looks like
As such, we focus more on how white people treat us than how we treat each other, not realizing that until we improve the later, we don't stand a chance in winning the fight against white supremacy
But they want us focused on them, believing we will never really win the fight. But if we expend all of our energy fighting against them, that's less energy we have to put towards healing ourselves.
