AmyCooper is still lying if she claims she isn’t racist. What she did is a textbook example of how systemic racism operates. She was never fearful. She wanted to use her status as a white woman & the assistance of police as a racist institution to inflict violence on a Black man.

The Amy Cooper incident is another perfect example of why white & non-black people should never be given the benefit of the doubt when they claim to be “afraid” of Black people as a justification for behaving violently.

Amy Cooper is a personification of how white society is organized.

She deserves to be shamed & ostracized because her conduct should not be allowed. But nothing will transform in this society until people admit that what she did is what happens in various ways everyday.

Amy Cooper is also a demonstration that white society is lying when they claim to be unaware of the racism of police. If that were the case, it wouldn’t occur to white women to regularly use police in situations like this. Amy Cooper is racist. Yes. White society itself is racist

This incident says as much about the nature & function of police as an inherently racist institution as it does about an individual white woman who is raised to know she can employ the weaponry of the white supremacist state against Black people she wants to assert dominance over

Incidents like this set off a firestorm b/c the social order is maintained on a daily basis by ppl pretending not to be aware of incidents like this. And more than that, pretending that they can’t imagine anyone like Amy Cooper. They’ve never met anyone like her. They aren’t her.

Amy Cooper is not an aberration from this society.

The fake fear she displayed reflects the same fake, racist fear white society employs all the time as justification for segregating & policing ppl according to race.

The aberration is that she was videotaped, named & shamed.

I’m saying all this to disrupt a pattern of behavior where the individual who was caught being overtly racist is singled out for punishment while the society that creates & enables such individuals is given a pass to carry on w/ its racist systems as tho the two aren’t connected.

And we’re going to see a lot of that as we always do. Politicians will condemn Amy Cooper’s actions even as they oversee the very police forces & prisons that will kill more Black people today, as they find their own ways to justify their own fears of Black autonomy & freedom.

Many more white civilians will do the same, all the more convinced that Amy Cooper is unlike anyone they know or could ever know because of how she treated the dog. The choking of the dog more than anything is what makes her violence plain to them.
