Now this is something that should be of interest to my Orthodox followers whether Tolkien fans or not and that is that in The Silmarillion there is something that is referred to as the Light of Valinor. Now this phrase appears 7 times in the text and 3 times it is capitalized and
4 times it is not suggesting a difference between the “light of Valinor” (which is the physical light produced by the Two Trees of Valinor) and the”Light of Valinor” which seems to be a greater concept that is not wholly defined or fleshed out anywhere but seems to refer to an
uncreated light like that of the Light of Tabor as this light existed before any Fall and seems to be something that can be attained or even spread as what occurs to the Edain the branch of Men who encounter and ally with the exiled Elves in the First Age.
Here are the three instances where the term Light of Valinor is applied.
@Alexhandr4 @NathanielPolley @IramIramTuanku @VaporSauron @TheWebApostle @AnaxiosDoulos You guys should find this thread interesting. Something that I noticed when going through The Silmarillion again recently.
Can't believe all those years I went over this and only now did I realize the distinction between the "light" and the "Light."
